Scott Grover – Rodeo Announcer

Scott Grover was born on December 5, 1977 in the small town of Morrowville, Kansas, Home of the Worlds First Bulldozer. I grew up in a rural area deep in farming, but not to a rodeo family. My mother tells me that the first time they took me to a rodeo, I was hooked from the start. For the rest of my life I wanted to be involved in rodeo, but I never really had the chance. We lived in town and I didn’t even have a horse until I was 12 years old. But that didn’t matter, from the time that I saw my first rodeo, I played rodeo, read about rodeo, and dreamed about rodeo.

In 1996 after graduating from high school I attended Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Nebraska. There I majored in Agribusiness and was a member of the rodeo club there. It was while attending Southeast that I kind of fell into announcing rodeos. My roommates and I would help out at a local arena on the weekends during youth rodeos. One Saturday night the producer called about 11:00pm and said that her announcer couldn’t make it for the Sunday performance, would I step in? Two months later I was announcing one of the biggest sanctioned bull ridings that I had ever seen, and I have stayed busy traveling from Iowa to Texas ever since.

After graduation form Southeast Community College I transferred to Kansas State University were I received a bachelors degree in Agricultural , Kansas. Before moving to Ottawa County I taught agricultural Education at Council Grove, Kansas for four years.

I have been the Central Plains Rodeo Association Announcer of the Year 4 times, and in 2005 was accepted to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. I owe my acceptance to this level to people like Justin McKee, Tommy Lucia, and Tommy Jo Lucia for helping me when they really didn’t have to.

The one thing that I pride my self on is that I will help people to succeed. I don’t care if it’s a fellow announcer that may take rodeos away from me someday; I want to help them be the best they can, and I strive to make each event the best it can possibly be.
